History - Disciples in South Vietnam
Masters Huynh Mi and Vu Ba Oai
In the mid 1920s, Mr. Vu Ba Oai settled in South Vietnam and began teaching Han Bai martial arts
to some students at his home. His first students included Messrs. Mai van Khue, Do Du Anh,
Truong Minh Lam and Huynh V Mi. Next came Messrs. Nguyen Anh Tai, Vuong Quang Ba. In 1950, Mr.
Vu Ba Oai officially etablished Han Bai Duong (Han Bai Martial Art Academy) in Saigon, the
capital of South Vietnam, with Mr. Huynh van Mi as head master; Mr. Nguyen Anh Tai as principal
instructor; and Messrs. Mai van Khue and Vuong Quang Ba as assistants. Mr. Huynh van Mi later
resigned from the school after Aikido and Judo was introduced into the teaching program. Han Bai
Duong ceased its operations in 1960.
